I got a 3Doodler for Christmas. A 3Doodler is a 3D printing pen. The pen extrudes heated plastic that cools almost instantly into a solid, stable structure. You can paint in the air, but I’m not quite there yet. I started out with some more simple stuff. I made two snowflakes that glows in the dark. There is a wide range of plastics from hard to flexy, clear to sparkly. There is a community online where people can upload their projects and guides on how to build them. I used a snowflake template and plastic by the type “glow“. You can see the process in the gallery above. I worked my way from the middle and out. It is difficult to get the right speed. There is two speed modes – slow and fast. I either got the line to be to thin or to big – but practice makes perfect and my second snowflake was already an improvement from my first.
